I'm a software engineer with over five years of full-stack development experience. I currently work at Atlassian, where I'm helping develop their new enterprise strategic planning product called Focus.
How I Got Here
My journey into software engineering wasn't straightforward. I initially entered college with the intention to study biology and work in healthcare. However, I had a background in the arts and felt that my creative drive wasn't satisfied by the field I was pursuing.
In my sophomore year, I took two introductory CS classes and quickly fell in love. I found I had a knack for it, putting my childhood love of brain teasers and logic puzzles to good use. I soon changed majors, and to this day I consider this one of the best decisions I have ever made.

My Background
I was born & raised in a small suburb of Des Moines, Iowa. Before I was born, my parents immigrated to the United States in search of opportunity.
These days, I often think about how they left their families and lives behind and flew across the Pacific Ocean with nothing but a few hundred dollars to their name. When I asked them if they were scared to make such a crazy journey, they replied, "No honestly, we were excited!" And I think that just about sums up their attitude towards life.
Their story inspires me every day to pursue new experiences, even if they’re a bit scary. From them, I get my adventurous spirit and ambitious drive.
